✅ LinkedIn adds verification for company pages. After rolling out verification for individual users last year, LinkedIn is now adding company page verification as well, providing another way for brands to establish trust in the app. LinkedIn says that you can add your company page to the waitlist for verification in your “Verification” settings, and LinkedIn will be approving pages at its discretion.
👻 Snapchat+ reaches 11m paying subscribers – making it the most successful of the recent wave of social subscription offerings, which, on Facebook and X at least, have put more focus on verification as a perk, effectively diluting the value of the very product that they’re trying to sell. So how has Snap seen success with its offering? Through audience understanding and providing add-on features that users actually want.
📱 X continues to highlight misleading stats about its performance, with Elon once again amplifying misleading reports that X is both beating Meta’s apps in usage, and that X is “the number one news app.” In addition, reports have also shown that X’s revenue is down around 50% on 2023 at this stage of the year. So on balance, X is not going great.
📈 Meta reports Q2 user revenue growth, with total ad impressions delivered across Meta’s apps having increased by 10% year-on-year, while the average price per ad also rose by 10%. AI is a focus once again in Meta’s Q2 earnings announcement, which shows the company posting solid increases in both users and revenue for the period. At the same time, the X-like Threads app has also continued to steadily gain traction among more user groups.
