💙 Meta brings advanced AI chatbots to all of its apps. Meta is making a bigger move to challenge OpenAI and others within the generative AI space. From Friday, users of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger are able to access Meta’s next-level generative AI assistant direct in the search bar of each app. Essentially, it's Chat GPT in Meta's app, which will enable you to pose queries in-stream!
🎶 The pressure’s rising on TikTok, with the U.S. Senate looking to quickly advance the proposed bill that could force the company into U.S. ownership, due to national security concerns. Early last month, U.S. senators proposed a new bill aimed at addressing security concerns posed by foreign ownership of social media apps, which specifically takes aim at TikTok, which is owned by Chinese company ByteDance. Under this proposal, ByteDance would be forced to sell TikTok into American ownership so that U.S user data is not being shipped back to the US.
⏰️ I'm sure the social team are clocking major hours on their social usage, but have a look at the average screen time and social message usage around the world. As people are spending more time online, social is becoming more and more prevalent in our daily lives! South Africa, Brazil and Philippines are top, dedicating around 20% of their waking life to social media, whereas Japan is only 5.1% of their waking time - very on brand!
🎥 YouTube tests subscription sorting, making it easier for creators to publish Member-Only Shorts! The platform is currently testing a new 'Most Relevant' display within the 'Subscription' tab, to help users find the latest updates from the channels they're most interested in. YouTube says that the sorting here is based on a number of factors, including how frequently and/or recently you’ve interacted with content from the channels that you subscribe to.
