🔎 TikTok takes another step-up the search engine rankings, by paying creators more for higher “search value” content. This is when their content meets what other users are searching for, in other words, Social SEO. TikTok announced the change as part of its new monetization program, called Creator Rewards.
Instagram has updated its hashtag search to broaden discovery 👀 Users can now get full results (e.g. Accounts, Audio, Places, Reels) when clicking on a hashtag, rather than just seeing a ‘top posts’ page. This aims to expand user search behaviours and improve profile discovery by encouraging users to include target keywords in their profiles, following Social SEO best practises.
Snap has launched sponsored AR filters as a new ad option. Brands can build Filters from a variety of fun templates including AR face Filters, location-based overlays, countdown timers, quiz generators, and more 🤳
Longing for longer videos? 📹 Instagram is testing 3 minute long Reels to maximise engagement by prompting users to film longer videos, which is the trend of the moment on TikTok. This aims to broaden user behaviours, and provide more content to keep people more engaged and entertained on the app.
Finally, Threads has added a ‘Trending Now page’ 🗣️ and is catching-up with X in terms of app features. The team have been working to increase the app’s popularity after it faded following the initial launch hype, but Meta have said there are now more users now than at launch. This will sit under the search bar and allow users to discover the most spoken about topics of the day
